(Cleveland)- Ron Goodwin is a White County resident who works all the time to give back to his community, after building homes in the Gainesville area for years he and his wife Marteen move to White County, now retired Goodwin serves with many community groups, Caring and Sharing, Meals on Wheels, Humane Society, his church and other areas.

Goodwin will celebrate his 80th birthday Sunday and White County Sheriff Neal Walden Thursday gave him a letter of recognition for his service and a challenge coin and challenged Goodwin to keep serving for 80 more years. Walden during the special presentation, read from that letter, “ people have describe you as good with people, a careful, thoughtful listener, showing compassion for people and animals and most importantly a good person. Simply stated you love what you do and it is revealed by your passion and zeal for serving others before yourself, “ said the sheriff.

The special recognition was initiated by Goodwin’s nephew David McSween who lives in Texas who contacted Sheriff Walden.

Goodwin, will celebrate his 80th birthday Sunday with family and friends at Unicoi State Park.
