Habersham County – Six inmates from Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto have been booked at the Habersham County Detention Center. The women were booked Friday for incidents dating between March 1st through July.
Those arrested face multiple charges including riot in a penal institution, violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act, theft by extortion, battery, and other charges.

The women booked into the detention center are:
- Samantha McKenzie Carter – riot in a penal institution, false imprisonment, theft by extortion, aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act, all felonies;
- Starkeithia Ceria Clemons – riot in a penal institution, false imprisonment, theft by extortion, aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act, all felonies;
- Belaysia Imane Francois – riot in a penal institution, false imprisonment, theft by extortion, aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act, all felonies;
- Iyana Nicole Herbert – riot in a penal institution (felony), and battery (misdemeanor);
- Melinda Mae McDaniel – aggravated battery, three counts of riot in a penal institution, two counts of theft by extortion, two counts of false imprisonment, and two counts of misdemeanor battery; and
- Brittany Lynn Wiley – three counts of riot in a penal institution, theft by extortion, and three counts of misdemeanor battery.
Georgia Department of Corrections officials has not released further information about the incidents that led to the charges.
I just read this. I must say this is very disturbing! My step daughter is currently incarcerated at Lee Arrendale and I am extremely concerned for her safety. She has had incidents in the past where she has been attacked and robbed by alleged gang members. I haven’t heard from her in several days. I was there and it was hell they would beat you til you couldn’t talk or anything they don’t care and the officers wouldn’t do anything at all
My daughter was at Lee Arrendale State Prison for diagnostics but they transferred her to Emanuel Women’s Facility and I thank God for that.
I myself was in incarcerated for 8 and half years and I know the damage and terror these morons bring to the inmates as well as the officer’s
They should build a special prison just for the ignorant women who continue to terrorize steal and beat on other’s so they will have their own kind only to steal kill and terrorize . I know it was hard in 2011 when my sentence started but at least the officer’s had control. Now alot of the good officer’s are gone ..quit or retired and the rest can’t control these idiots that think they are so tuff they steal beat and bully the decent women that are in their for minor offenses or just to stay to themselves and make it home .
It’s sad that the state of Georgia can’t do something to stop this ignorance that is going on. It’s so sad when the officer’s and higher official’s can’t spend some if this states money to put these animals where they belong . I myself saw women die from being beaten by other inmates. Raped with broom handles. Molested in the shower’s. I am thankful they chose to leave me alone and I made it throw all the women’s prisons and both TCs unscathed
They say well you should have stayed out of prison. What a stupid statement to come out of a official’s mouth. A the saddest part of all is the Warden is the one who makes it even worse than it already is. Me Tatum and his nasty vulgarity to decent women was just unbelievable and even more so that nothing was ever done
Maybe since he’s in a men’s prison now they’ll do all those terrible things to him that happened to these women
He deserves the very worse of what he could get .

Hang in there ..stay to yourself and away from people who antagonize others and force them to join them morning take the punishment
We are all human beings and make mistakes but some of those humans have turned into animals that can’t be controlled without severe punishment and most of then have 15 to 30 year sentences; some lifers. And they themselves are still teenagers
Sad but true.
Pray for all who end up with the beatings rapes molesting and for them to make it home alive.
Also God bless the families of those that have loved ones in these awful places . I pray for their broken hearts and worry for their daughter’s,wife’s,mother’s, and sister’s who are at that zoo they call a prison.

Mi fiancé was one that got assaulted there and I have to pay money every week and every other day the ask for more or they will hurt her again and what make me more mad that they promised if my fiancé cooperated they will keep her safe and they put her next to the people that assaulted her
I was a offender there I served 30 years I have seen the staff turn the blind eye too alot of things there as well as pd with them or just afraid of them I am one that was never afraid an laid down my flag due to the misleading of others its sad that if you tell the officer or other staff that is there to serve and protect you that they tell the person what was said and place you in danger the system is sad it’s as if you on the streets still but just looked up behind bars gang members don’t know how any of it came about as a neighbor hood watch but it was for the safety of our community not to hurt nor bully others I’m one of the ones that made it and would like to speak out to children and to them help lead them to love them these streets aren’t the same people dying behind foolishness from being mislead.yhey need to take control of last as well as Pulaski its bad
My daughter was at this prison, she was 23 years old, she passed away there on May 5. We have no answers for anything. Not even a cause of death, everything is a big cover up!!
It’s sad to say that this goes on in all the prisons not just the women’s prison but the men’s as well. If they would take everyone of the one’s that are in there causing all the problems like they were on the streets and put them on the tier program and lock them down with nothing rock bottom no clothes, no bed, no store, no visitation, or no phone calls,and make them earn everything they get starting with underwear and so on till they have learned a lesson. And if they earn anything and mess up again take it back from them till they learn not to act like a animal.it may sound harsh to do this but it’s harsh for them going around beating up one another and stealing from the ones that has a family that provides for them. I mean if they didn’t act stupid and burn the bridges with there on family’s while they were on the streets then they wouldn’t be in there taking from the ones that actually have people that care about them. And it’s a crying shame that at least 80% of the ones in there are these kids 90 baby’s with life sentences. And believe me they are savages. Everyone of them better no that God don’t like ugly.
My sister is about to be shipped there and now I m.so worried about her wellbeing. And reading these posts im down right afraid for her safety. Lord please be with her while shes there.
It’s all true something needs to be done Fox 5 News to get down there and investigate that prison a lot is going on that is unspoke about money is being provided for the prisons and not being put into the prisons
Someone very close to me is serving a sentence here. I am so worried for her safety. Good people can make bad choice that changes their whole life and everyone’s around them. I pray God watch over her and shield her from any harm.
I just did 14 years there. The amount of violence there is insane. You wouldn’t think a women’s prison would be like that. But they had us living like animals. Months without toilet paper or pads and tampons. Bugs in the food. No a/c or heat. No officersto work there ever since covid.and there’s up to 800 inmates and sometimes only one officer shows up to role call. It was around 1400 inmates but they shipped half that to Pulaski and Whitworth due to half the prison is condemed with esbestos. have severe PTSD just from being there and its almost ruined all my relatio ships. Its so sad. Someone else should have helped us.
JoAnne, you say you have “severe PTSD just from being there”, but I would say you had it before going there, if you had it at all, since you decided to stop taking your medicine and kill kill your daughter.
Shame on you for trying to blame the prison staff.
