Habersham Medical Center(Demorest)- Parties continue their talks  to complete a working agreement  between Habersham Medical Center (HMC) and Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS).  A news release from Habersham Medical Center said,  both medical groups  have agreed to continue discussions as they  explore affiliation opportunities to best meet the healthcare needs of the Habersham community and region.

“Both organizations have completed the necessary and appropriate due diligence, said, Kim Crawford, chairman of the Habersham County Hospital Authority.  However, he said, given industry changes and the complexities associated with an affiliation, all parties agree more conversation is warranted before taking action.”

Carol Burrell, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System said,  “We agree that an alignment will best meet the needs of the community, and we still believe NGHS is the most logical partner for HMC.”

“The Commission is very pleased that conversations will continue,” commented Victor Anderson, chairman of the Habersham County Board of Commissions.  “Our goal is for the discussions to reach a conclusion by the end of the year.”
