(NEW ORLEANS, La )- The Piedmont University Track & Field program saw three athletes earn All-Region honors, the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Friday afternoon. Senior Garrett Stadler and sophomore Silas Goolsby represented the men’s side of the program while senior Nakiyah Washington was the lone woman to earn the honor. Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Stadler earns the honor for his work in the men’s 400m hurdles, where he ran a career-best 54.92 at the Cole Piper Open to claim first place. He followed up just a few weeks later and claimed the Collegiate Conference of the South Championship in Maryville, Tenn.

After breaking her own school record earlier in the year, Washington earns her first USTFCCA honor in the women’s shot put. Her record-breaking 12.52m toss came at the Cole Piper Open where she took first place in the event. She followed up just over a week later by winning the Collegiate Conference of the South shot put and came within .05m of breaking her record once more.

Nakiyah Washington - All-Region

Goolsby earns his USTFCCA honor in the men’s 110m hurdles. After setting a career-best time at the Emory Thrills in the Hills early in the outdoor season, he claimed the Collegiate Conference of the South title with a time of 15.38.

This marks the first career All-Region honor for all three from the Lions.
