Multi-Vehicle Crash east of Cleveland

(Cleveland) – Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Clarkesville Highway early Friday morning.

According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, around 9:21 am,  32-year-old Megan Bennett of Cleveland was traveling in a Ford Flex east on SR 115 (Clarkesville Highway) and stopped for another vehicle to make a left-hand turn onto Gerrells Road. 57-year-old Patrick Sweeny of Clarkesville was driving a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500, owned by Fastenal Company, and was traveling behind Bennett and came to a stop behind the Ford Flex.  65-year-old Brenda Brown of Cleveland was behind the Dodge Ram in her 2017 Subaru.

Brown then struck Sweeny in the rear of the truck, which in turn pushed it into Bennett.  Brown stated she couldn’t see the stopped vehicles due to the sun in her eyes.

Sweeny was transported to Habersham Medical Center by White County EMS. Brown reported injuries, but was not transported. The passenger in Bennett’s vehicle was not injured.

According to GSP Brown was cited for following too closely.
