TMU Baseball 3-11-17

CLEVELAND | The Truett McConnell baseball team battled against the No. 14 Bryan Lions but fell in both halves of a doubleheader, 3-1 and 10-6, Friday afternoon.

In game one, Greg Elder and Chris Sauve were locked in a pitchers’ duel for the first six innings. The Bears scratched a run across in the third when Chris Carden brought home Calob Rowland on a single down the right field line.

The big inning came in the sixth when Bryan found a way to bring three runs across and seal the win.

In game two, Bryan came out and put up runs in the second, third and fourth innings before TMU answered with two in the bottom of the fourth on a Rowland triple down the right field line that cleared the bases.

The Lions responded with five runs in the fifth inning to pull away for good. The Bears attempted to come back with a three-run bomb by Carden in the sixth, but the Lions locked down and squeezed out the win.

The Bears and Lions will wrap up the season series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
