(WALESKA) – On Monday, the Truett McConnell University men’s volleyball team traveled to Waleska, Ga. for a non-conference match-up against Cornerstone University. The Bears banded together to secure set two but ultimately fell after forcing the fourth set (9-25, 25-23, 17-25, 18-25). TMU falls to an overall record of 0-11, while the Golden Eagles rise to an overall record of 8-16.

In set one, the Bears kept it close with the Golden Eagles with a kill from Nathan HillOwen Nobles, and Jackson Adams. A service ace from Hill kept TMU within one, until the Golden Eagles broke away. A kill from Kaleb Mitchell was the last point TMU would see in that set, falling 9-25. In set two, the Golden Eagles were first to strike, but TMU retaliated with a three-point rally to take the lead. A kill from Adams and Mitchell, with a block from Nobles kept the Bears ahead. A short rally from the Golden Eagles put TMU behind by three points. A kill from Nobles followed by an ace from Jakob Lee brought the Bear within two. A four point rally with kills from Hill gave the Bears the lead again. An ace from Nobles secured TMU’s first set win in school history, 25-23. In set three, the Bears could not keep the momentum with an early rally from the Golden Eagles. A kill from Nobles and Hill cut the deficit to five points, but TMU was unable to fight back, falling 17-25. In the final set, TMU was on the board with a kill from Nobles and a block from Hill. A kill from Adams late in the set brought TMU within two points, but a streak from the Golden Eagles increased the deficit to eight points. A late kill from Wensky Saintilmond was not enough, leaving the Bears to fall 18-25.
LEADERS
Mitchell led the way with seven kills, along with two blocks. Adams followed with six kills, two service aces and 11 digs while Ryan Stokes tallied five kills on the day. Nobles added two blocks on the day along with six digs.

The Bears return home to the TMU Volleyball/Wrestling Arena on Thursday, March 10, for a conference match-up against Webber International University. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
