(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University lacrosse team is set to open their 2022 season on Tuesday, where the Lady Bears will travel to Central, S.C. to face Southern Wesleyan University.

“We have put in a lot of work for this upcoming season and are excited to get things going,” said Head Coach Sheena Johnson. “We have a tough schedule this year, but I have a great group of girls who play tough and work hard.”

Women’s lacrosse finished their 2021 season with a tying win record of 4-5, 4-4 AAC, along with the Lady Bears earning a spot in the AAC Tournament for the first time in program history. The Lady Bears were knocked out of the tournament by Asbury College in the opening round, while two players earned All-Conference honors.

TMU had two AAC weekly honors, featuring key returner and All-Conference first team member, Hope Frady, who was named offensive player of the week twice. Senior Holly Foster and junior Sophie Beach are amongst the returning leaders for the Lady Bears.  

Tuesday’s competition is set for a 5:00 p.m. start time, followed by the Lady Bears home opener on Wednesday, March 2, against Brenau University at 5:00 p.m., inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
