(MOUNT VERNON) – On Thursday, the Truett McConnell University men’s soccer team traveled to Brewton-Parker College, where the Bears out shot the Barons 15-9, but ultimately returned home with a 1-1 draw. 

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bears were quick to score their lone goal of the evening in the first 17 minutes of play when a shot from Jez-Walker Patterson found the back of the net (1-0). TMU played stellar defense throughout the remainder of the first half, leaving the score 1-0. In the second half, TMU was capable of keeping the lead, but a late shot from the Barons tied the score 1-1. With both teams resilient, the final score remained even, forcing the game to end in a 1-1 draw. 

LEADERS
Patterson led the way with three shots, with one on goal and one goal. Nour Alamri and Jose Venture followed with two shots, with one on goal. Goalkeeper Daniel Santema had two saves on the evening.

UP NEXT
The Bears remain on the road and head to Jacksonville, Fla. to face Trinity Baptist College on Saturday, August 27. Kickoff is set for 10:00 a.m.
