(CLEVELAND) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team went face to face with Thomas University, inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. The Lady Bears secured a stellar non-conference win of 71-54, improving to a record of 7-5, while the Night Hawks fell 1-10.
 
PLAY BY PLAY 
In the first quarter, the Lady Bears were hot out of the gates, with a Natalie Nixon shot in the paint, followed by a shot from Ra’Tavia Floyd.  A Floyd three pointer increased the lead, along with a jumper from Quan Holton to give the Lady Bears an advantage. A shot in the paint from Camilla Callihan closed out the quarter with TMU ahead (15-7). In the second quarter, TMU started with a jumper from Holton and a layup from Callihan. Back to back shots from Holton continued to increase TMU’s lead, while Mieyana Milner closed out the quarter with a shot in the paint to keep the Lady Bears ahead 32-20. 
 
The third quarter started with a foul on Sydnie Smith, leading to two successful free throws. The Night Hawks gained slight momentum, but Five consecutive points from Holton and a three pointer from Callihan created the ultimate deficit. A foul on Alysee Dobbs sent her to the line for two successful free throws, ending the quarter with the Lady Bears ahead (52-40). In the final quarter, a layup from Milner was proved the final points of the game for the Lady Bears, leaving them victorious with a score of 71-54. 
 
LEADERS 
Holton led the way with a double-double on the evening, recording 15 points, going 7-10 in the paint and 11 rebounds. Callihan trailed closely with 14 points, going 2-4 from behind the three-point arc, with two steals. Floyd and Dobbs both tallied 11 points apiece. Floyd went 1-1 at the free throw line and 4-11 from within the paint. Dobbs had three rebounds and went 5-5 at the free throw line. Nixon contributed five points and five rebounds on the evening.
