(CLEVELAND, Ga.) – The No. 23 Truett McConnell University women’s soccer team hosted No. 20 Georgia Gwinnett College on Saturday, where the Lady Bears closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory over the Grizzlies. TMU is currently sitting at an overall record of 14-1-2, 12-0-1 AAC, along with maintaining an 11 game win streak.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The furst half of regulation proved evenly matched as both teams stayed silent on the board. A shot from Ashley Johnson and Isabelle Hodson saw TMU act first, while shots from Ruffa Meger and Eliska Dvorakova added to the Lady Bears attack as they tallied a total of eight shots compared to GGCs three shots. The second half saw TMU with the advantage early after a ball from Johnson, assisted by Brianna Hernandez, found the back of the net in the 46th minute. Johnson could not be stopped as she added the second goal for the Lady Bears in the 47th minute, assisted by Lindsey Fowler. The Lady Bears continued to take eight more shots, while Fowler found the back of the net right before the final buzzer, assisted by Dvorakova, to make the score 3-0.

LEADERS

Johnson led the way with two goals and seven shots, five on goal, while Fowler had one goal and one assist. Dvorakova and Hernandez had one assist apiece, while keeper Emelie Taylor has five saves on the day.

The Lady Bears are back in action on Friday,  November 1, where they will host their first round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, inside the TMU Soccer Complex. Opponent and time to be announced.
