(WEST POINT, Ga.) – The Truett McConnell University women’s volleyball team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Point University. The Lady Bears battled the Skyhawks to secure a sweep (25-22, 29-27, 25-21). TMU rises to a record of 7-6, 2-0 AAC, while the Skyhawks fall 3-7, 0-3 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, the Lady Bears were first to score with a kill from Katie Williams. Kills from Leah Bowen and Sonya Silecky gave TMU a two-point advantage. A three-point rally with kills from Elizabeth Franklin, Williams and Ranavia Neal gave the Lady Bears an edge, but the Skyhawks capitalized quickly. With the set tied at 22, a three-point rally secured a 25-22 victory. In set two, the Lady Bears scored first again but quickly fell behind the Skyhawks. As TMU worked their way back, consecutive kills from Williams and kills from Neal kept TMU within margins. A service ace from Williams gave the Lady Bears the lead, but the Skyhawks worked their way back. With the game tied at 27, TMU smacked kills from Neal and Williams to secure a 29-27 win.
In the third set, a service ace from Silecky kicked things off but the Skyhawks followed closely behind. A six-point rally from TMU created a gap, but was quickly closed by the Skyhawks own rally. A late six-point rally consisted of kills from Jordan Roberts and Neal, along with a service ace from Kaleigh McFarland. A service ace from Williams and a kill from Roberts secured a 25-21 sweep over the Skyhawks.
LEADERS
Williams led the way with 13 kills, followed by Neal with seven and Silecky with five. Williams and Deomi Valmus tallied 14 digs on the evening, followed by 10 from Brooklyn Brock. Brock also record 24 assists on the evening.

The Lady Bears return to the Harris Athletic Complex on Friday, September 16 for another AAC matchup against Bryan College. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
