(GRAYSON, Ky.) – On Friday, the Truett McConnell University women’s volleyball team traveled to face Kentucky Christian University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears rallied together to beat the Knights 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-18). TMU rises to an overall record of 8-5, 3-1 AAC, while KCU falls to a record of 1-9, 1-3 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In set one, the Lady Bears started off hot with a four-point rally, featuring kills by Katie Williams and a service ace by Rylee Simpson (4-0). TMU continued to show their grit with kills by Ranavia Neal and Sonya Silecky, increasing the margin by nine points (16-7). A final kill by Williams gave the Lady Bears what was needed to secure the win in set one, 25-17. Set two saw TMU on the board with a service ace by Deomi Valmus (2-0). Two five-point rallies, featuring a service ace from Madyson Dunn and kills from Simpson and Jordan Roberts pushed the Lady Bears ahead (9-3). A final kill by Williams, once again sealed the deal for TMU to win in set two, 25-16.

In the final set, TMU was first to act with another service ace from Simpson. The set remained evenly matched as KCU fought hard, but TMU was not shaken as back-to-back kills by Williams and Neal put the Lady Bears in position to win the match in three sets (25-18).

LEADERS
Williams led the way 16 kills followed by Silecky with eight kills. Neal recorded six kills, while Faith Clarkson recorded four kills. Simpson recorded four service aces and 35 assist on the evening, followed by Emma Boland who had three services aces and Dunn and Valmus who had two service aces apiece.

The Lady Bears will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, September 16, as they travel to take on Bluefield University for an AAC match-up. Match time set for 1:00 p.m.
