CHARLOTTE, N.C. | The University of North Georgia women’s cross country team capped its 2015 season with a fourth place finish out of 27 schools at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional held on Wingate’s Cross Country Course.

No. 17 Montevallo (30 points) ran away from the pack to win the team title as the Peach Belt Conference champions placed five runners in the top-10. Host Wingate (108 points) and Queens (139 points) rounded out the top three schools, as the trio will represent the region at the 2015 Women’s Cross Country National Championship race on Saturday, Nov. 21at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Mo.

Young Harris’s Nancy Murgor also ran her way to Joplin with a runner-up finish individually.

The top three teams from each of the eight regions automatically advance to the NCAA Division II Championship finals. The top three individuals who are not part of a qualifying team also automatically advance to the championship finals.

North Georgia, ranked fifth in the region by the USTFCCA, finished 40 points behind Queens with a team total of 179.

Junior Brittany Truitt earned a top-20 finish with a 6K time of 24:09, which was good for 19th place.

Caitlin Connell (24:37, 32nd), Jenna Tilton (24:44, 35th) and Allyssa Sheffield (24:48, 39th) finished within 11 seconds of each other to score for the Nighthawks.

Senior Brianna Moring rounded out the team scoring with a time of 25:22 and a 54th place finish out of 182 runners.
