SKILLMAN, New Jersey | Following a successful fall season, the University of North Georgia men’s tennis team has earned a No. 20 NCAA Division II ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) final fall rankings released last week. The Nighthawks are also ranked No. 5 in the Southeast region.

UNG was one of seven schools ranked in the top-50 of the final Fall 2015 rankings.

Armstrong State leads the pack at third, two spots ahead of Lander at fifth, while Georgia College (No. 12) and Columbus State (No. 13) join UNG in the top-20.

Individually, UNG’s Philipp Mueller finished the fall ranked No. 16 in the Southeast region in singles. The PBC landed 16 out of 20 players in the top of the regional singles rankings.

Mueller and Niklas Zielen will enter the Spring 2016 season ranked No. 6 regionally in doubles.

North Georgia opened the 2015-16 schedule on Oct. 22 with a 9-0 win over Emmanuel. The Nighthawks return to action on Jan. 31 with a home match against Brevard. First serves are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.
