NEW ORLEANS | The University of North Georgia women’s cross country team was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II All-Academic Team and four individuals were also awarded All-Academic honors as announced by the association earlier this month.

The team garnered a 3.34 grade point average during the fall season while finishing second in the Peach Belt Conference Championship. The Nighthawks also finished fourth in the NCAA Southeast Regional. The USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor is the third consecutive for head coach Tom Williams‘ program.

Individually, Jenna Tilton, Brittany Truitt, Brianna Moring and Caitlin Connell earned All-Academic honors.

The individual All-Academic honor was awarded to those athletes who have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.

The 384 women honored by the USTFCCA came from 137 different programs, while 137 different programs also earned the team distinction.

The USTFCCCA is a non-profit professional organization representing cross country and track & field coaches of all levels. The organization represents over 8,000 coaching members encompassing 94% of all NCAA track & field programs (DI, DII, and DIII) and includes members representing the NAIA as well as a number of state high school coaches associations.
