(Helen)- U.S. Forest Service crews worked through the night Sunday keeping lines in tow on the Unicoi Fire in Northern White County.

White County Public Safety Director in an update Monday morning said the reports are very good on the containment.  Weather will play a significant role today as low relative humidity and wind speeds are concerned. According to Murphy the fire has burned an estimated 180 acres so far.

USFS and GFC will be working this event throughout the day.

Murphy said White County Fire Services will be on alert for structural protection.  Additional fire stations have been manned.

According to Murphy Smith Creek Trail is closed.  Anna Ruby and Unicoi State Park are open but on alert for closure if necessary.

The relative humidity will bottom out around 25% this afternoon, mainly between 1 PM and 5 PM, and recover to 60% to 70% overnight into early Tuesday morning. Relative humidity will drop to around 35% Tuesday afternoon. What is needed now is some rain but none is expected until at least Wednesday late, with a better chance Thursday.

In the meantime, Murphy advises there is an outdoor burn ban in White County due to the extremely dry conditions.
