Representatives from agencies receiving funding from  United Way

(Cleveland)- United Way of White County Thursday  awarded $60,000 in funds to community organizations that provide assistance to  citizens in the county.  The annual allocations luncheon was held at the Roy Ash Community Room in Cleveland. 

United Way president Matt Adams presented the funding checks to representatives of the organizations and thanked them for the service they provide.  Adams said, its exciting to extend a helping hand, “ every year we look forward to this opportunity to gather our organizations and return the money that United Way is able to raise throughout the year, and we know that the money raised is going back to White County and it is used on a daily basis by the people on the front line for our community for the services and needs the community has, said Adams.   

He acknowledged that many of the originations assist United Way with their fund raising events each year. According to Adams these events give the community an opportunity to have fun and contribute to their goal.

 According to Adams, they have three primary fund raising events each year, the  golf tournament in April, the Barbeque event in October and our Festival of trees at the end of the year in December.  “ This year we have a new opportunity with Nachoochee Village, with “Swing with your Favorite Super Hero,” said Adams.  That event will be held on March first.  

Those receiving funding included: White County Mentoring, White County 4-H, White County Special Olympics,  American Red Cross, Community Helping Hands Clinic, Enotah Anti-Drug Coalition, The Children’s Center,  White County Food Pantry, Enotah CASA, Catalyst Christian Learning Center, Circle of Hope, Rape Response,  Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity, White County Caring and Sharing and Challenged Child of Northeast Georgia.      

Special recognition was given to Babyland General Hospital and The Troll Tavern in Helen  for being major partners of United Way fund raising.
