CLEVELAND | The Truett McConnell volleyball team defeated Toccoa Falls in front of a raucous crowd Thursday night, 3-0. With the win, the Bears improve to 9-6.

Truett McConnell was able to jump on the Eagles early, scoring 14 of the first 19 points of the match, highlighted by three aces byMorgan Harris. The Bears were able to cruise from there to a 25-10 first set win.

The Screaming Eagles responded in the second set, scoring eight of the first 12 points, but TMU answered with a 5-0 run to take a 9-8 lead. After trading points through much of the set, the Bears pulled away late to win the set, 25-18.

Toccoa Falls did not go quietly in the third set as they held the lead for the first half of the set. Trailing 11-10, the Bears came alive behind Hannah Simpson, who got credit for the next three points, two by kill and one block. Truett McConnell would go on to win the final set, 25-16.

Zykeria Allen had her second consecutive double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Georgia Martin finished the match with 18 digs for the Bears.

TMU will hit the road for a tri-match at Columbia College onSaturday, October 1, against Columbia and Tennessee Wesleyan. The Bears are scheduled to play at 1 and 3 p.m.
