Sports – It was an exciting night at Warrior Field last night as White County secured a spot in the playoffs this year as well as named their Homecoming King and Queen.

The Warriors would be the only ones to put points on the board in the first quarter beginning with a touchdown pass from Tripp Nix to Bryson Cronic. This would be followed ten minutes later by a 28-yard touchdown run from Darius Canon.

The Bobcats would attempt a comeback run with Kobe Stonecipher putting up the first points in the second quarter. A fumble recovery by Gilmer would not yield any points for the Bobcats, however, Silas Mulligan would score twice more, including a 51-yard touchdown run. Then an extremely short on-side kick by the Warriors would eventually result in Zion McMullen putting up seven more points, taking the game into halftime with a score of 32 to 7, White County.

After an extended halftime for Homecoming presentations, the Bobcats were off to the end zone first but missed out on the PAT putting up 6 more points.  This would be followed by a touchdown by Colton Turner for the Warriors and one more for the Bobcats.

Kobe Stonecipher would give Gilmer one more touchdown at the start of the fourth, but that would be the final points scored by the Bobcats.  But the excitement wasn’t over as Darius Canon would make his fourth kickoff return for the season for 85 yards, Drew Harris and Mark Turner called the action:

This was followed shortly by one more touchdown by Zion McMullen.

The final score for the evening was 52 to 25, Warriors, and this cinches them a playoff spot this season.

The Captain D’s players of the game this evening were Silas Mulligan on Offense and Zion McMullen on Defense.

White County’s Homecoming King and Queen this year were Kinsey Dockery, Homecoming Queen, and Zion McMullen, Homecoming King.

Next week the Warriors will be in Flowery Branch to take on Cherokee Bluff in the final region game of the season.
