Sports – In high school baseball, the Warriors were able to go home early last night after their (11-1) eleven to one victory over Gilmer in game one of the series.

The Bobcats were ahead early in the game, gaining one run and then loading the bases in the first inning, but Warrior pitcher Mark Daniels left them all stranded with a couple of well thrown strike outs.

White County came up empty in the bottom of the first, but pulled ahead in the second, bringing two runs in for the Warriors, with two more runs in the third giving White County a comfortable lead, 4-1.

With a scoreless fourth inning, the fifth inning belonged to White County. Including a 2 run single by Jake Johnson, the Warriors would bring home 7 more runs. This would activate the 10-run rule for high school baseball, and the game ended after 5 innings of play with the Warriors winning game one, 11 to 1.

Following the game, WRWH field reporter Brae Westmoreland spoke with Assistant Coach Brett Westmoreland after the early ending:

Game three against Gilmer will be Friday with the broadcast beginning at 5:40pm and the first pitch at 5:55 on your home of the Warriors, WRWH.
