Weather-Alert

(Cleveland)- The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory for White County and northeast Georgia this morning as several lines of showers move across the northern tier of counties.

The weather service says the combination of these showers and the strong winds already in place will allow for strong damaging gusts at times.  Winds could gust up to 50 MPH. Forecasters say expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of unsecured objects.

Meanwhile a flash flood watch remains in effect through this afternoon for north and central Georgia, through 6 pm this evening.  Forecasters say rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches have already fallen across the area since early Tuesday and another inch is possible.  These rainfall amounts over saturated grounds will continue to run off into area streams, creeks and rivers and cause minor flooding.

In addition a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM Thursday  for north and central Georgia. Forecasters say south to southwest winds  25 to 30 mph with gust up to 40 mph will continue today, tonight until early Thursday.

Numerous trees may be blown down due to the wet soil conditions. Driving may become difficult and loose objects may also be blown around.
