(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Education held two meetings this week, at the Tuesday morning meeting MaryKay Berry, Director of Student Services, gave a presentation to the board on the new MedLink/Warrior Wellness Center (WWC).

The wellness center which is located on the White County High School campus offers primary care and behavioral health services for students and staff Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Berry shared with the board that since the wellness center opened at the start of this school year they have seen a total of 250 patients – 140 were students, and 110 were staff members.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting Superintendent, Dr. Laurie Burkett presented an update on the current school construction work on the Transportation Facility, White County High School Performing Arts Center, and High School Athletic fields.

During the Thursday evening meeting, White County Warrior Academy Principal Shelly McDonald gave a presentation on the Warrior Academy word of the year – puzzle.  She said, life is a puzzle, and children can be at times as well. So, instead of an electronic device reward for good behavior or achievement this year, the students are rewarded with time at the puzzle table. The benefits of completing a puzzle include relaxation, increased memory, socialization, and more.

McDonald said, there is a puzzle table in every classroom and the cafeteria. When completed the puzzles are then glued, put into frames, and hung throughout Warrior Academy.

According to McDonald the students truly enjoy their time at the puzzle table.
