(Cleveland)- The April term of White County Grand Jury was reconvened this week to address issues brought before them.  The grand jury body addressed 26 cases, resulting in 25 true bills of indictment with one receiving a no bill.

The grand jury on Tuesday, after hearing the evidence presented, indicted Emilio Catroppa of Cleveland on murder charges.

Catroppa was arrested by the White County Sheriff’s Office on October 23rd, 2022 following an incident at a home in Cleveland.

At the time of his arrest, White County Sheriff Rick Kelley said sheriff’s office deputies responded to 52 Shadow Creek Point Cleveland, for a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival, deputies found a fifty-eight-year-old female who had been run over by a truck.

According to the sheriff the victim’s husband, fifty-eight-year-old Emilio Catroppa of Cleveland, was questioned by Investigators, and subsequently charged with Aggravated Assault with a motor vehicle under the Family Violence Act (FVA), and placed into custody.

The victim, identified as Catroppa’s wife was taken by White County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries.

She passed away from those injuries on Tuesday November first and investigators then upgraded charges to Malice Murder and Felony murder.

The grand jury in addition to the murder charges indicted Catroppa on Homicide by Vehicle-leaving the scene, Aggravated Assault, and Hit and Run.
