(Cleveland)- The Georgia Department of Labor reported Thursday that the May preliminary unemployment rate in White County was 2.6 percent that’s up six-tenths of a percentage point from the revised April rate.

In May the labor force in White County was 17, 830, of those 17, 364 had jobs while 466 people were unemployed.

Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said all of Georgia’s Regional Commissions reported a rise in May unemployment rates. The unemployment rate in the Georgia Mountains Region was up six-tenths to 2.9 percent over-the-month, the rate was 2.8 percent one year ago.
