(Peachtree City)- A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 1 PM Saturday for  extreme North Georgia, generally north of a line from Rome to Ellijay to Hiawassee. National Weather Forecasters say a mix of sleet and freezing rain is expected this afternoon. 

Snow accumulations near 5 inches is expected in far Northeast Georgia. Locally higher amounts are possible.  Sleet and ice accumulations are expected to be generally

less than 1/10 on an inch.  The precipitation will change to all snow early this evening and continue through tonight.  The snow will end from the west  to east Saturday morning.  Bridges and overpasses will become slick and dangerous.  The snow on top of any ice accumulations will make travel extremely hazardous. 

Snowfall may be heavy at times and reduce visibilities.  Forecasters say winds will be from the northwest 15- 25 miles per hour with gust up to 30 late tonight and Saturday.  Wind chills and temperatures will be falling into the teens and lower 20’s tonight creating wind chill values between 0 and 10 degrees.
