(Cleveland)- The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from late Sunday through Monday evening. The areas effective are mainly east and north of a line from Chatsworth to canton to Lawrenceville to Danielsville.

Forecasters say a mix of rain… freezing rain and snow can be expected.  Accumulations from 1-2 inches of snow, mainly in the higher elevations with a quarter inch of ice with isolated areas receiving as much as a third of an inch of ice.  

According to forecasters the mix of rain, freezing rain and snow will begin late Sunday night across Northeast Georgia.  The mix will transition to a mix of rain and freezing rain late morning on Monday. The mix of rain and freezing rain will continue through Monday afternoon, slowly transiting to all rain by Monday evening.

With the  snow and ice accumulations roads will become extremely hazardous. 

The weight of ice on trees will bring down branches and some weaker trees.  Power lines could also come down due to the weight of the ice.  

Temperatures will fall into the mid 20’s to lower 30’s across northeast Georgia Sunday night, rising into the mid 30’s by late Monday afternoon.
