(CLEVELAND, Ga.) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women’s volleyball team hosted Brenau University for their final regular season Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears recorded a sweep over the Golden Tigers, 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-9). TMU rises to an overall record of 13-17, 10-10 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, BU was first on the board with a four-point rally. The Lady Bears responded with a kill by Elizabeth Franklin, eager to set a rally in motion. A five-point rally by TMU pushed the Lady Bears ahead early, featuring kills by Faith Clarkson and Sameily Marquez, paired with a service ace by faith Clarkson. TMU continued to work together to secure set one, when a final service ace by Clarkson captured the win, 25-19. Set two saw the Golden Tigers once again first to score. A kill by Marquez, ultimately put TMU on the board forcing the Lady Bears to work from behind. Both teams battled back and forth for set two, with kills by Katie WilliamsJordan Roberts and Caroline Yeager pushing the Lady Bears ahead. A final kill by Clarkson, ultimately sealed the deal in set two, 25-22. In the final set, TMU out matched BU recording a seven-point rally to create an eight-point lead. A final kill by Marquez followed by two attack errors on the opposing team ultimately determined the match’s fate with a final score of 25-9.

LEADERS
Franklin led the way with six kills, a block assist and solo block, followed by Marquez who recorded six kills and a block assist. Clarkson followed with four kills and three serving aces, while Roberts tallied four kills and two block assists. Emma Boland was featured recording 14 assists on the evening.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Thursday, November 14, as TMU travels to Kingsport, Tenn. for the AAC Tournament. Match opponent and time to be determined.
