Rebecca Yardley receives a proclamation from Cleveland Mayor Josh Turner

(Cleveland)- The City of Cleveland Monday recognized former Ward2 City Council member Rebecca Yardley for her service to the community.

During a reception honoring Yardley, Cleveland Mayor Josh Turner read a proclamation approved by the council recognizing the over 30 years of community service by Yardley including serving in numerous positions with the Republican Party.

Turner concluded the proclamation by wishing Yardley success in her future endeavors and “ urge all citizens to take notice of services provided by the city of Cleveland and follow Ms. Yardley’s example making every effort to contribute to their communities.”

Yardley was elected to the council on June 9, 2020, following a special election was held to fill the vacant seat after Councilwoman Annie Sutton resigned to run for mayor.

Yardley announced on August 21st this year her resignation because the owner of the home she was renting sold the house and she said due to the lack of affordable housing she was forced to look outside not only the city but White County to live.

Yardley voiced her appreciation for the recognition and said “To serve people is an honor and it is s gift and we should all be so lucky to be able to do it. Thank you for the honor and trust that you have put in me, but most importantly to the employees of the city of Cleveland.”
