(Helen)- An 18 year old was seriously injured Thursday in a skateboarding accident in Helen. Helen Police Chief Brian Stephens said the accident occurred at 11:26 AM on Fussenstrasse Street.
The youth identified as Andrew Domingues was on the skateboard and fell off, injuring his head, said Stephens.
According to Stephens, after the fall, Domingues got up and ran a short distance and collapses in a ditch.
White County Emergency Medical Service personnel assessed the injuries and determined it was serious enough to request a life flight helicopter to transport the youth to a hospital for treatment.
Chief Stephens said, “he wasn’t wearing any safety gear.”
