(Cleveland)- White County Corner Ricky Barrett reports that an 84 year old White County woman was killed in an accident at her home south of Cleveland Thursday afternoon. Barrett said, Dorothy “ Dot” Rogers had pulled into the carport of her home, on Old Highway 75 South of Cleveland, thought the vehicle was in park and started to exit the vehicle.
The corner said, the vehicle started to move and Rogers tried to get back into the vehicle and put it in park, but the vehicle went forward, in the open carport and crashed into a tree. Barrett said Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Captain Tim Chapman with the White County Sheriff’s office said, a neighbor saw the accident as she passed the driveway. Chapman said, the neighbor noticed the vehicle behind the house between two trees. The neighbor turned around and pulled into the driveway and located the driver pinned against a tree.
The neighbor then called 9-1-1.
