(Undated)-Weather conditions across north Georgia are changing as cooler temperatures settle in this weekend, but the drought continues to get worse each day. WRWH Weather reporter Bill Kinsland said I have been following our droughts for some 30 years…and have never seen a drought ramp up this fast. In less than a month’s time, we have gone from “NO DROUGHT” on September 3rd to “EXTREME DROUGHT” as of October 1st.
The latest drought map released Thursday shows the lower third of White County is now in a D-THREE “EXTREME DROUGHT” STATUS. Middle third in D-TWO “SEVERE DROUGHT” status. Upper third in D-ONE “MODERATE DROUGHT” status.
Bill says “this drought is showing up in water levels as well, with all levels below normal”.
