Gary Leon Black, age 70, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ga and was the only son of Geraldine and
Leon Black. He loved his hometown so much that he chose to raise his 4 children
here as well. He was well known around the community for being a caring man
who loved and helped everyone he met.

After graduating from the University of Georgia, he had a long and meaningful
career of working for the Georgia Department of Corrections where he guided
and mentored many people to a better life. His generosity, love, and positivity
will truly be missed by all who knew him. He was a shining light of hope and love
in a dark world, truly one-of-a-kind. As a man of true faith, his family is confident
he is rejoicing in heaven with our Lord and Savior.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leon Black.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy McDowell Black, his children, Missy Black
(Pulliam), Chris Black, Rachel Black, and Sara Black, his mother Geraldine Black
and his grandchildren, Alex Pulliam, and Taylor Pulliam.

A Memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Chapel
of Barrett Funeral Home. Mr. Terry McDowell will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at
Barrett Funeral Home.
