(Cleveland- A High Fire Danger alert has been issued for North and Central Georgia Sunday afternoon due to low relative humidities, dry fuels, and wind gusts. 

Forecasters say relative humidities of 25 percent or less can be expected for 4 or more hours Sunday afternoon into the evening. Winds will be Northwest at 10-15 mph with gusts of 18-25 mph with some isolated higher gusts.

With dry fuels, high fire danger conditions can be expected.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution.

White County urges citizens to not burn outdoors for the next several days due to the high fire danger.

White County Public Safety Director David Murphy said, “Those who choose to burn can be held liable for fires that cause dame t other property. These are strict outdoor burning rules that must be followed.” 

 The dry conditions will persist through Thursday when the next rainfall is expected.
