(CLEVELAND) – The reigning Appalachian Athletic Conference co-pitcher of the year, Karley Hobbs, was named the NAIA pitcher of the week for her 5-0 week, announced the league Tuesday. This marks the first time any TMU athlete has ever earned this national recognition.
The sophomore, who is the AAC’s most recently named AAC pitcher of the week, allowed 17 hits, three runs (.74) while striking out 11 through 28.10 innings. Hobbs leads the country in total wins (27-0) and currently has an ERA of 1.19, which leads the AAC and ranks in the top 20 nationally. In fact, Hobbs’ conference ERA is a .79. Hobbs also holds her opponents to a batting average of .189, which also leads the AAC and ranks in the top 25 nationally.
Additionally, Hobbs has 49 assists in the field of 35 games played and she has earned two saves on top of her 27 wins.
“Recognition such as this is one that is earned after years of hard work,” Head Coach/Athletic Director Jenni Shepard said. “Hobby has done great this season on the mound and has a great defense and team to back her up. While this is an individual award, many players contributed to it and I am so proud of Hobby and this program. Go Bears!”
The Lady Bears (39-7, 22-2 AAC) have now won 10 straight and lead the AAC with just two losses on the year. TMU faces St. Andrews University for their final regular season DH on Wednesday, April 17, at 1:00 p.m., on the road.
